01.07.2016 - LCL SOLAS / VGM Fee

LCL SOLAS / VGM Fee as from July 1st 2016[mehr]

Dear valued clients,

The new regulation covering the SOLAS convention for the
"Safety of Life at Sea" will become active as from July 1st 2016.

As per the carriers, the responsibility for obtaining and documenting the VGM of a packed container lies with the shipper shown on the master ocean B/L.

As the shipper on the MBL will be OVERSEAS-FREIGHTERS, even though we are not the cargo owners, we will now become responsible to provide the VGM to the ocean carrier in order to meet the SOLAS and local regulatory requirements.

As the SOLAS regulation will not be applicable for the individual LCL shipments, OVERSEAS-FREIGHTERS will not require an individual VGM certificate for your LCL shipments. We assume that the weight that you submit to us , is correct and includes the packing of the cargo.

As carriers request that the VGM is provided in advance to allow the ship master and the terminal operations to plan the ship stowage, we will be forced to advance our closing with 1 working day for certain destinations.
In case you are not able to meet a closing, please check with us if an exception for a late delivery can be granted or not.

There will also be an economic impact that will arise due to this new regulation as we must organize the VGM certification for both the physical labor as well as the administrational process involved and as such we will be implement a

SOLAS administration fee of 10 EUR per shipment as from July 1st 2016.

We have the possibility to weigh LCL shipments up to 2 tons at cost in case
you or your client should be unable to determine correct cargo weights.

In case you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
